Step-by-step Guide to replace AC condenser and radiator in a 2004-2013 Range Rover Sport:
-
Remove Freon: Use an AC machine to remove the freon from the system. If unavailable, take it to a shop for this step.
-
Remove Grill: Squeeze the tabs on the top of the grill and pull it back. Then, pull it out from the bottom.
-
Remove Skid Plates: Take off the lower and rear skid plates, followed by the two side plates or covers.
-
Drain Coolant: Open the petcock or remove the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant. Disconnect the vent line from the overflow bottle and remove it from the top of the radiator.
-
Remove Fan Shroud Cover: Pull upwards on the corners to remove the fan shroud cover.
-
Disconnect Fan: Disconnect the electrical connector to the fan and use a spanner wrench to unbolt the fan clutch. Remove the fan assembly and the upper hose from the radiator.
-
Remove Lower Fan Shroud: Flare the tab and pull upwards to remove the lower fan shroud.
-
Disconnect Lines: Disconnect the cooler lines, power steering cooler hoses, and AC condenser lines.
-
Remove Radiator: Remove screws and mounting pins holding the radiator in place. Carefully remove the radiator and condenser from the vehicle.
-
Install New Units: Bolt the condenser to the radiator first, then slide them in as an assembly.
-
Reconnect Components: Reconnect all hoses, lines, and bottles. Secure the mounting pins and bolts.
-
Refill Coolant: Fill the vehicle with coolant and bleed the air out of the system.
-
Charge Freon: Charge the freon to the proper level.
Follow these steps carefully for a successful replacement of the AC condenser and radiator in your Range Rover Sport.
