Ras Mohamed Nature Reserve, located at the far southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez, is one of Egypt’s most spectacular protected areas.
Established in 1983 and now recognized on the IUCN Green List, the reserve spans desert cliffs, mangrove forests, salt marshes, inland lakes, dramatic geological fissures, and some of the richest coral reefs in the Red Sea.
With more than 220 species of corals, over a thousand species of fish, and a mix of desert wildlife such as foxes, ibex, and lizards, the park is an ecological crossroads between land and sea. Its turquoise waters attract snorkelers and divers from around the world, while its quiet desert landscapes, panoramic viewpoints, and the famous “Earthquake Crack” reveal the region’s raw natural beauty. Just 25 km from Sharm El-Sheikh, Ras Mohamed offers visitors an unforgettable blend of vibrant underwater life and serene desert wilderness.
