Discovery 3 - Starter motor replacement

To replace the starter in your 2006 Land Rover LR3 or Discovery 3, applicable to 2006-2009 models with the 4.4 V8, start by removing the passenger side wheel and inner fender liner. With the vehicle on jackstands, work from underneath.

Watch the entire video for tips on wrench handling. After removing the heat shields, accessible with 3-10 mm bolts, focus on the top 13 mm bolt holding the starter. Disconnect the main electrical connector after disconnecting the battery (negative first).

Follow the video for tips on removing the top bolt, then proceed underneath to remove the lower bolt. Use a long prybar to tap it out.
